A Little About Who We Are
We would like to take this opportunity to tell you about Highland Rim Christian Homeschool Co-op (HCHC) that meets in Tullahoma, TN. This group was founded in the Spring of 2010 and has grown to around 30 families and 100 people attending each week. We have a close family atmosphere at HCHC. We are an OVERTLY CHRISTIAN organization and each one of our teachers must agree to and sign a Statement of Faith saying that they believe and will agree to teach the Biblical concepts outlined in it. Many of our classes are taught using Christian Curriculum. Our teachers are diligent in teaching their classes and bring unique opportunities to the classroom.
Each semester brings new class selections to the table that are unique and wonderful opportunities for our members. We are excited for what each semester will bring. We strive to provide a balanced class selection each semester for all grades that will enhance the homeschool experience. We offer classes from Nursery to to 12th grade. For our High School students we offer core subjects and rotate these classes as needed. Many of our parents with High Schoolers are grateful for the chance to enroll their students in these core subjects and are able to get HS credit for the general and college prep tracts.
At HCHC, we try very hard to present a relaxed atmosphere that promotes an optimal teaching and learning environment without "all the stress" of your typical public school experience. There is A LOT of behind the scenes work of our Leadership team and support network that goes into providing this experience. Our goal is to provide a "well-balanced" selection of classes and unique opportunities for our students as well - God has been gracious to provide the resources that we have needed when we have needed them. We have a wonderful preschool area and teachers, our Kindergarten class is TOP NOTCH, and we have many very talented teachers providing classes for our students in all grades.
We also offer a Promotion Ceremony at the end of the year. It is a program that is designed for parents and family members of the students to enjoy and an opportunity to celebrate what the student has accomplished over the course of the year. Certificates are awarded to each student during the ceremony celebrating their promotion into the next grade. Medals are given to our 8th graders to signify the milestone of moving into High School, and we have a special presentation planned for Seniors. Caps and gowns are available for Kindergarden students and for Seniors. Promotion Ceremony is a wonderful opportunity to take a moment to commemorate the year's hard work for both parents and students. We have cake and punch afterward to celebrate the occasion.
In the Fall, we offer homeschool t-shirts that are optional to purchase if you'd like. We also publish a Yearbook and offer a Yearbook class that is offered in the Spring each year. We usually have group events that are organized by fellow members each semester such as attending plays together, attending skating parties, or taking organized or impromptu field trips. We encourage our members to organize play dates and events so that members can socialize outside of Co-op also. HCHC is about building relationships and friendships in addition to pursuing academic excellence. When the weather is nice we often get together at the park after classes to have lunch and fellowship with each other.
If you choose to become a part of HCHC. We have a required Family Fee of $45.00 that is paid each semester (Fall and Spring). This cost is used to cover facility fees, insurance costs, and Co-op needs. Also each class may have a nominative fee and that amount will need to be paid to the lead teacher. The teacher uses this amount to buy necessary curriculum and supplies for the student for the term. We also ask that you be prepared to help out each hour of co-op. We meet on Thursdays from 8:45AM-12PM. Our classes last 50 mins each. We rotate classes each hour. We ask that you be prepared to either teach a class or become a co-teacher, helper, or hall monitor each hour. If you would like to teach a class, but are unsure of how to go about it or need a helping hand, we can assign you an experienced co-teacher who can help you teach the class you desire. Once you become a member of HCHC you will gain access to our Yahoo group, Facebook group, and exclusive access to Member pages on this website.
Above all HCHC is a family. We bring a unique opportunity to enhance your homeschooling experience with unique classes and opportunities. We would love to have you become a part of our homeschool family. If you are interested in joining our co-op please complete the waiting list application. We will contact you when we open enrollment.
We wish you the very best in your homeschooling experience. We pray that you find the Co-op that is the right fit for your family. May you be blessed greatly in your endeavors to provide academic excellence for your student(s)!
